I got these cute little jars as favors at a wedding a month ago.
They're adorable.
It was love at first sight.
I decided that they'd make perfect salt and pepper shakers.
And with July 4th coming up, why not red, white, and blue?
I got together my supplies:
Took off the lids and painted the top of one red and the other blue:
Used red and blue sharpies to decorate the sides with fireworks:
And the backs with "July 4th":
Then [using a ridiculously small nail] I hammered holes in the top of each lid. . .
Like so:
Hot glued some lacy white frill along the edge:
And vola!
The most patriotic salt and pepper shaker you ever did see :]
Happy 4th of July!

Those are cute!!! Very creative repurposing. :) Thanks so much for the visit to my blog! :)
Very cute! I really love it when people repurpose things. It's not that I'm so green (I am a little) but I just love seeing how creative people can get. Thanks for sharing!

I adore your patriotic spirit. It is red, white and bluetiful!
I hope you'll stop by for my bbq on an Anthropologie inspired white tablecloth. :)
Amanda, I just got the same tin for a favor at a wedding in June :) they had M&Ms inside with personalized text about the bride and groom. I never thought to do anything with them though! I wish I had saved some for you and you could have churned out some more :)
