So, if you remember, last week I shared the painting of the piano.
I had some leftover paint, and a coffee table that also sits in the music studio.
This coffee table belonged to my great-grandmother, and my mom was going to get rid of it. . .
and there was no way that I was going to allow that!
So I got the antique coffee table :]

Though, I will be the first to admit that it's pretty beat up:

I mean, imagine what it's been through over the years. . . I know that just my siblings and I put it through enough.
Nothing that a fun paint job can't fix, though!
I decided that I would go for the distressed look
[mostly because there was no way I was sanding the whole thing down
like I did the piano!]
I painted the whole thing in that same robin's egg blue color:

And then strategically sanded down the edges to make it look "distressed."
As a last minute addition, I decided to add some decorative detailing in a slightly darker shade of blue.
First here:
And then painted this bird silhouette:

And finally, the end result:

Though, it will probably always have music on it, like this. . . :]

Do you have a drab to fab project that you'd like to share?

Mandy,
That's awesome! I love that blue color. What brand and color name is it? I wish I had something to link up for your party, but I haven't been working on anything lately. Have a great day...

So cute Mandy. What a difference. I hate to get rid of anything that has been in my family.
I got my beautiful headband yesterday. Thank you so much. I really love it.

Great work! I really like the bird and the colors.
That is super cute! Love it!
And look at you starting up all these linky parties! :)
I'll link up something even though it is a little old and you've seen it but I want to support and my current projects are FAR from being done! lol
LOVE your redo, Mandy! It's just perfect! It's so chic now - LOVE it! :)
Hi Mandy-
I have a daughter named Mandy - so I love the name of your site. What is the actual color of the paint you used, Robin's Egg Blue? What brand? - it looks lovely. I love blue and have a few big pieces I am thinking about painting a light blue like this. The bird illustration really makes it truly yours! I will link up something and when you make your first holiday project you can link it up on my On-going Christmas project link up.
My best- Diane
Great job, very creative.
What a difference. So creative.
How nice that you saved your grandmothers table. What a great job on the bird silhouette! Did you free hand that?
I need to do this to my table so it will match the bird wall I did! Just posted about it here:

Would fit SO well with it! Of course it might be over board to have birds everywhere! :)
Soooo much better "After." LOVE the bird silhouette and the blue paint. I took a look at your Etsy shop---super cute stuff! :) Thanks so much for the visit today. :) Your comment was so sweet!
Oh, in LOOOVE with your good work. Great choice with the blues.
Oh my! How fantastically crafty! The bird is such a great addition.
Great job, love the color!
I'm loving the color of your coffee table. I have a similar one on my porch awaiting refinishing. I might just have to steal your bird idea. Thanks for sharing and for hosting Drab to Fab links!
