Wanna do it too? Here's the tutorial. . .
Materials Needed:
flower pattern
knit fabric
needle
thread
hot glue
little beads
chain
lobster clasp
scissors
I made this little pattern for the petals that you are welcomed to use:
You will need to cut out 4 large flowers and 6 small ones
[so that you have 4 layers for the big flower and 3 for each of the small ones]
Then arrange them how you would like:
Sew the layers together in the very center.
Then, make a little stitch at the start of each petal, and pull the thread tightly to make the petals "curl" up a little bit:
Do this to all three flowers:
Next, for the beading. . .
Anthro's necklace uses just a single large, ornate bead in the center of each,
but I wanted to use materials that I already had.
So I just used lots of tiny beads, and I think that the overall effect is the same.
Sew them on in groups of 3:
Like so:
I sewed 12 onto the large flower, and 6 onto each of the small flowers:
Next, cut out 3 circles, each slightly smaller than the circumference of the flower.
Set them in a [slightly arched] row and lay the center of the chain across them:
Use hot glue to attach the flowers to the chain/circles.
Attach a lobster clasp to the chain, and you're done!
Sure beats $138, huh? ;]

Great tutorial Mandy - you make it look so easy.
Mandy!! I love yours WAY better. Especially that yellow-orange necklace up top! Love, love!
FABULOUS! That's about all I can say. Yours is so much better....love it! On my weekend "to do" list!
Yeah! I would bet that your version will last a lot longer than an actual Anthro necklace, too. I'm really tired of buying their jewelry and it breaking or bits of it falling off within the first few times I wear it. Maybe if we keep "knocking off" their designs and improving our quality they'll get the hint! ; )
Very cute! Although, I would suggest maybe putting a couple of stitches through the back petal layer, attaching it to the chain. That way it's extra secure, as hot glue can sometimes peel off of slick surfaces like metal. :)
I like yours better than theirs anyway! :)
And you get points for using the word "circumference" in everyday speech...
ah again you are amazing:)
Yours is totally better!
Also, your new header is great.

Adorable! Yours is awesome! I like to think I'm crafty, but I'm really not, but I'm totally going to try this. On my agenda today - the bead shop for a few beads and the chain. I'm so excited!

Discovered this via "one pretty thing." 1) Immediately became a follower of your blog. 2) Will immediately make this necklace, upon getting home this evening. Have a deeply clearanced Target knit top that was cute on the rack, but looked terrible on me and have been saving it for some project. Finally, this is it!
I think I know what craft to try tonight....
Hi!
