Last year I bought a couple of those fake pumpkins at the craft store...

I pulled them out and set one on my mantel the other day.
But I decided to spruce them up a little bit.
First, I drew out a sketch of what I wanted to put on my pumpkin...
just to get an idea:

Then I copied it as best as I could onto my pumpkin
[in pencil]
With a permanent marker, I carefully traced the letter,

I used a small dish to make the circle around the letter:

And then also made it bolder with a permanent marker:

Then I added little "twigs" and "vines" to embellish the circle:

I like it,
Fortunately, I have two!
I think I may use this one for the walkway and make another one with a smaller monogram for my mantel.
I'm linking to these parties.

Mandy! I love it! So cute:) What will you think of next? I can't wait to see what you will have up your sleeve for Thanksgiving and Christmas! :)gina
What great project, Mandy! I've always wanted to buy one of these, because carving them gives me hives (yes, I'm allergic). Great idea ;D
I love the monogram. I need to add this to my list!
Very cute and clever! Looks easy enough for me! Great idea.
LOVE THIS! You are great and this looks like something I can actually pull off (maybe)
Love it!! I've seen these around the internet but yours looks really easy. Now all I need is pumpkin.
Kelly
ps: saw you on CSI
Pumpkins are the best!!! Love that this doesn't involve any carving, and that it will last forever!
Love it! The "E" is so perfect!
That's too cute! I've been wanting to make a monogram pumpkin family. :) They have really cute ones at Hobby Lobby, but I knew I could make them cheaper. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
this is so cute! I love the idea of a monogramed pumpkin. I might have to carve one!
Very Cute I think I have one of those in my stash somewhere.
so cute and simple! it's a much better idea then buying one that is going to rot before the holiday is even here
So creative! I love this idea!
Very cute! You could always just flip it around and use the other side as well.
I love these pumpkins. I use them to make my glitter pumpkins.
LOVE it!
Love this!! Making one this weekend~~!!
Oh I love this! Simple too! I have a couple fake pumpkins that could use some sprucing up. Thanks for the idea!
Saw this on the CSI Project =)
ok. you want me to believe that you did this freehand? Come on. Get outta here.
I'd try it, but my hands shake like an old ladies.
:)
WOW--amazing job stenciling this free hand!!!
This is super cute. I totally want to do it now. Thanks for linking to FTF!
This looks so great. I can't believe it's "free-handed"! Most of us would need . . . vinyl, stencils, etc. Thanks for showing what's possible with a little bravery!
Warmly, Michelle
This is so cute! I'm so glad you didn't use a cricut! I always find cute monogrammed crafts and then see that it was cricuted which not everyone has (yours truly). :)
I'd love for you to link my Flaunt it Friday party if you'd like to show it off some more.
love the monogram.
