Picture Frame Facelift...

We have one of those staircases that has a landing at the halfway point.
I've used that landing as the place to hang some pictures:

Sorry it's not the best picture- I can't actually capture the wall if I'm on the landing, but the angle's a little strange from the stairs... what can ya do?

Those outer frames were a Christmas gift...

They are absolutely lovely... but the gold trim around the frame is just not me.
So I decided that the wall needed a facelift.

I took the frames apart, and got out that
blue paint
[Yup- STILL the same can from the piano, and the coffee table, and the family tree... a $7.50 can of paint goes a long way!]

And you know me and
distressing at this point, right?
I
HAD to take the sandpaper to them:

And look at the wall now:

You can't tell overly from the picture,
but the light color opens the house up so much!
And it has a fresh,
beachy cottage appeal.

The hubs usually thinks that my distressing is stupid...
"Why would you work that hard on something
and then RUIN it?"
But when he got home from work, he LOVED it!
Distressing and all. :]

I'm linking to
these parties.

I love them too.

Isn't it great when you find a can of paint that you love the colour of?

I have that with one of my tins ofpaint. I have to hold myself back or I'd paint the children and my husband!!

They look great. I just took an old frame and chalkboard painted the glass. It's like my friends have never seen a chalkboard before. I have new messages everyday!
