Silhouette Tutorial...

For those of you who missed my sillhouette tutorial over @
Nice Girl Notes
a while ago, here it is:

Materials Needed:
Photo
Pencil
Tracing Paper
Black Paper
Tape
X-acto Knife

First, find a photo that you want to use.
I think it probably works better if there aren't very many little details...
Try to get full body shots instead of faces.
I chose one of our wedding pictures:

Then, I took a sheet of tracing paper and traced the image...

Sadly, I was out of black construction paper.
So I set the tracing on some yellow paper.
[I suggest adding a little tape to keep the image in place]
Using an X-acto knife, I carefully cut along all the lines...

It's important that you "cut out" the lines...
make them thick so that you can see the image like this:

When I was finished, I felt the need to remedy the lack of black paper
[despite my adoration for yellow]...

You can skip this step if you begin with the proper supplies.
Mount it to a white background, and you're done!

Our wedding picture is now a keepsake silhouette:

And here it is next to the original:

The best part was that it took less than an hour to do...
I was expecting it to be an all day affair!
Quick, easy, and with Christmas coming up, it would make a lovely personalized gift!

I'm linking to these parties.

Mandy, Mandy -- I absolutely love this silhouette tutorial, especially using your wedding photo. My husband and I celebrate 42 years this February. This will be my gift to him. He will love it, I know.
