Wanna know the how-to on this ruffled lovely?

Well, here it is!
First I taped two pieces of 8.5" X 11" paper together.
Then I sketched out a stocking shaped pattern:

I used the pattern to cut two pieces out of linen.

Then I cut strips out of fabric-
About 2 feet wide and 3 inches long.
I made these ruffle by sewing along the edge,
And then pulling the bobbin thread:

Then I pinned all these ruffles to the front of the stocking piece:

And sewed them on:

Now for the Post Mark...
I used a small plate to trace the outer circle:

And then a coffee mug for the inner circle:

I drew three squiggly lines out from the circle,
And used stamps for the lettering [and owls!]:

Viola!

Now, pin the pieces of linen together, front side facing inwards:

Leave an inch at the top on both sides of the stocking,
And sew the rest up along the sides.

Outer layer is done:

Ok, on to the lining...
Using the same pattern that you used before,
cut two stockings out of quilting batting
and two stockings out of fabric for lining.
Pin the stocking shaped fabric to the stocking shaped batting
and sew them together all around the edges.

Fabric side facing in,
Pin the lining to each side of the stocking:

Sew tops of stocking and lining together.
[This is why I had you leave the inch along the top...
to have room to sew these together]
Bring both of the linings forward like so:

Pin them together and sew them up.
Then shove the lining inside the stocking.
Make a strap to hang the stocking by cutting a strip of fabric,
folding it face to face,
sewing it along the side,
And turning it inside out:

Attach it to your stocking...
And that's it!
Here it is up on my mantel:

I'll show you how I made the hub's stocking soon!

I'm linking to these parties.
