LOFT shirt knock-off tutorial...

I was inspired by a shirt at the LOFT the other day...
Sadly, it is no longer on their website, so I have no picture and no link, but it looked something similar to this shirt that I made:

The best thing about this project is that it doesn't have to be exact...
So put away the perfectionist in you, and get ready to get messy!

Materials Needed:
A plain t-shirt
T-shirt paint
Cardboard or paper plate
Tulle
Sequins
Thread
Needle
Scissors

*** FIRST, make sure that you have a piece of cardboard or something inside the shirt so that the paint won't bleed through! ***

Get your paint ready... I suggest squirting it onto a paper plate:

Then I finger painted the flowers onto the shirt:

Round the petals somewhat to make them look more real:

In the end I kind of smeared the flowers to get a messier effect:

Next, cut some flower petals out of tulle:

After the paint has dried, sew the tulle petals on top of some of the painted petals...
This does not have to be exact:

Sew clumps of sequins into the flower centers:

And that's it!

I love a project that is imperfectly perfect!
And cheap...
I spent $3.99 on the t-shirt, $.79 on sequins, and $1.00 on tulle...
everything else I already had on hand.
$5.78 to recreate a LOFT shirt... not bad! :]

I'm linking to these parties.

First it is too cute! Second, I love that you do not have to be perfect to make it - I like a good mess when I craft!
